Yemen to see scheduled cargo ops in late 1Q18

Posted 12 March 2018 · Add Comment

Air Djibouti is set to begin scheduled flights to the Yemeni city of Aden, one of the few foreign airlines to do so, reports ch-aviation.

According to an airline statement, Yemen's Ambassador to Djibouti, Abdulla Al-Sakhtari, discussed the plan with the chairman of Air Djibouti, Abdourahman Ali Abdillahi,

Al-Sakhtari expressed his company's readiness to competitively price the flights in addition to the transfer of relief materials and medicines to all airports across Yemen if so requested by the Saudi coalition-backed alliance and the Aden-based Yemeni government.

Operations are on-board a B727-200 chartered from Kenya's Safe Air.  No plans for passenger flights were disclosed given the precarious security conditions around Yemen.
