Two people died in Libya on Sunday after helicopters belonging to the Libyan National Army (LNA) collided 130 kilometres (80 miles) southeast of Libya's second city Benghazi

Both Mil-MI8 helicopters were badly damaged but the occupants of the second helicopter survived

"The direct impact between two helicopters" caused the death of a general and a technician, General Miloud al-Zouay told Agence France Presse (AFP).

The two aircraft were carrying out a military mission" Zouay said. Although he did not give any further details it has been widely reported that LNA forces loyal to Khalifa Haftar had been involved in operations against a Chadian armed opposition group on Libya’s couthern border.
