Following the authorisation, Turkish Technic has welcomed its first base maintenance customers, three Airbus type aircraft. The Airbus A321neo has been the first aircraft to be given the Certificate of Release to Service (CRS). Turkish Technic celebrated the first release at C/D Hangars with the technical team on board.

With an indoor area of 60.000 m2, C/D Hangars have the capacity to provide maintenance services for 3 wide and 11 narrow-body aircraft simultaneously. In addition to being one of the biggest hangars in the world, C/D Hangars are equipped with the state-of-the-art technology while all elements in and around the facility are managed by smart automation systems. The hangars meet their water needs through rainwater harvesting and solar energy is being utilised as a part of the energy source. The translucent polycarbonate panels used in the hangars allow the benefits of sunlight last for a longer time.

CEO of Turkish Technic, Mikail Akbulut said: “We are proud to have completed the very first aircraft base maintenance at our C/D Hangars, which have been put into service recently. C/D Hangars are a milestone for the global MRO market as well as for the Turkish civil aviation. When all phases of our facilities at Istanbul Airport are complete, we will have 11 hangars in total, and we will be able to provide maintenance and repair services to 26 narrow and 19 wide-body aircraft simultaneously.”
