Recaro displays its seating range at AIX

Recaro is displaying its range of seats at Aircraft Interiors Hamburg (AIX) this week.

“The CL3710 and SL3710 set a new standard for comfort in the sky for the economy long and short range respectively, while the CL6710 Next Generation concept seat will do the same for business class,” said Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO and Shareholder of Recaro Aircraft Seating.

“With almost 50 years of experience in aircraft seating, Recaro constantly pushes to raise the bar for ultimate comfort, efficiency and quality. The latest additions to the company’s portfolio prove that once again.”

The CL3710 is one of the finalists for a Crystal Cabin Award. As part of a holistic approach named ‘Sleeping Comfort’, Recaro created a range of three main comfort elements designed to enable improved body posture, a better ability to change sleeping positions and a reduction of pressure points. The Abrazo headrest gives additional side support to the head, while the extended seat bottom option supports the upper and parts of the lower legs. This increases the size of the seating surface and reduces pressure points. Last but not least, the flip cushion helps to support the lower lumbar area in a cradle or sleeping position.

"The SL3710 weighs in at eight kilograms, this short-haul economy class seat sets a new benchmark for lightweight. Through innovative changes to the seat cushion, the seat pan and the seat structure itself, Recaro achieved major weight reductions. Its slim backrest design provides more living space per passenger, while allowing the carrier to adopt higher-density seat layouts," said Hiller.

"Dubbed the efficiency performer, the SL3710 keeps costs low over the entire lifecycle, hence contributing to a lower TCO: a seat design, optimized for predefined recline reduces maintenance costs by 50%, while a spare parts commonality with the BL3710 keeps maintenance costs at a minimum. It also shares a common design language with the BL3710 which can prove crucial for a consistent look and feel in hybrid layouts."

Recaro has also introduced a concept for the CL6710 Next Generation business class seat.

The seat creates a mini suite sensation through its increased living space and styling with high quality trim & finish materials. The optional sliding doors and individually adjustable settings allows passengers to personalize their seating experience above the clouds and creates a new dimension of privacy. While the optimized seat kinematics and cushion comfort offer an ergonomically superior design, the generous and versatile stowage creates more space for all personal belongings.

"The CL6710 seat maximises the space within the available layout which makes it perfectly fit for high-density setups. On top of it being adaptable to airliners’ specific needs, it is one of the lightest in the industry which will help save fuel costs. An elaborated maintenance concept provides quick access and replacement of all relevant components. This makes for highly-effective working processes and reduces maintenance costs for the operators. In a nutshell, once available, the CL6710 NG will provide a win-win situation for all parties involved," said Hiller.

“Recaro’s vision to drive comfort in the sky pushes us to constantly rethink our products as we aim to deliver unprecedented comfort, quality and design."

He added: "Cutting-edge product innovation that supports both passengers and airliners, forms the core of our company. That is what we showcase with these new additions to our portfolio.”
