At a joint press conference in Qatar, Pompeo said: "We're all more powerful when we're working together. Disputes between countries that have a shared objective are never helpful."

This was in reference to the boycott imposed on Qatar in 2017 by Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt.

Al-Thani said: “We have held an extended dialogue during the seven meetings of the conference of dialogue between Qatar and the United States and discussed all issues of mutual interest, in particular, the crisis between the Gulf countries, the Middle East peace process, talks on Afghanistan, the situation in Syria, and efforts aimed at combating terrorism.”

Al-Udeid Air Base is one of the largest U.S. bases in the Middle East with 10,000 troops and personnel.
