The first joint project will be the installation of its Mobile OnAir system on a Boeing 737-900ER BBJ, due for delivery in the first half of 2013.

Ian Dawkins, chief executive of OnAir (pictured), said: “The list of our completion centre partners is growing by the month, making it easier for business jet owners and operators to equip their aircraft with our in-flight connectivity technology.

“We aim to choose those with particular expertise and skills to suit the needs of this market.

“As you’d expect, the VIP market is an early adopter of in-flight connectivity. Business never stops, so VIPs have to remain in touch at all times, including during flights.”

PATS is currently seeing a high demand from VIP jet operators for in-flight connectivity. John Eichten, senior vice president for sales and marketing, said: “PATS prides itself on finding innovative and industry-leading ways to satisfy our customers’ requirements and our partnership with OnAir is a good example of that.”

OnAir works with Inmarsat to deliver the company’s SwiftBroadband system. This can provide phone, internet and other connectivity via an (up to) 432kbps satellite link. This will increase to a maximum of 700kbps next year when new high data bearers are introduced as part of an upgrade.
