Lufthansa Technik launches laser-based installation system

Posted 27 July 2016 · Add Comment

Lufthansa Technik has launched a laser-based system to aid installation in VIP aircraft cabins.

The mobile projection can be used in any installation situation, and components can be installed precisely and more efficiently when compared to conventional measuring tools.

The system projects the installation template onto the work environment, and corresponds to the component contours selected in the virtual 3D model.

"We have achieved another milestone in further advancing the digitisation of industrial work processes at Lufthansa Technik with the projection-based installation support using laser-based templates. Following in the footsteps of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality is now a part of our working world," said says Dr. Severin S. Todt, head of CAx Competence Centre and Tool & Equipment Solutions, Lufthansa Technik.

Augmented reality offers additional information in real time over what the user actually perceives.
