GCAA wins at Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Governmental Excellence

Winners of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Governmental Excellence in its fifth edition 2018 were honoured yesterday in Abu Dhabi.

 

The ceremony was attended by H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice president of the state, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and more officials from different government sectors.

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) won three awards for categories of The Leading Federal Authority (more than 500 employees), the best Governmental authority for Innovation and the best Governmental authority in Administrative and Financial Governance. 

The ceremony was also attended by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, the minister of Economy and Chairman of GCAA Board of Directors, along with Omar bin Ghalib GCAA Deputy Director General and Assistant Director General for Support Services Sector, the Assistant Director Generals and GCAA’ employees.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi the GCAA DG said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wise leadership for their trust in our efforts, which has motivated us to embark on an open space of creativity beyond what we have been entrusted with. Our winning of The Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award of these categories has a great impact on us. The success and honour that we receive today is not the last stop in our path. Nevertheless, it is only a milestone in our continuing journey towards excellence.”

The General Civil Aviation Authority was nominated for this award, which includes five main categories: the leading federal category (more than 500 employees), the best innovation category, and the best category in the field of enablers, the best category in governance and financial management, as well as nominating three employees for the Prime Minister’s medals.

The ceremony coincided with the UAE Government's celebration of the tenth anniversary for launching Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program, which brings together and shelters all federal government authorities with the aim to achieve excellence and leadership in the federal government sector.

 

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Governmental Excellence is the highest award for government excellence in the UAE and it urges the government sectors to develop performance according to innovative criteria based on the results achieved, and to raise awareness of the principles of excellence and leadership and how far it is important to modern governments in serving all categories of the society.
