The Youth Council, formed last October, seeks to facilitate positive change and engage the nation’s young people in the future leadership of the country.

This Ramadan, the fifteen members of the Etihad Youth Council worked with communities across the UAE. Their volunteering included inviting orphans to tour the Etihad Innovation Centre, Etihad’s cutting-edge research hub, alongside visiting elderly people in care homes in Sharjah, and distributing Iftar meals to workers in Mazyad Mall, Abu Dhabi.

Speaking on the role of the Council, Etihad Aviation Group chief executive officer, Tony Douglas said: “It gives me great pride to see the activity of the Etihad Youth Council during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The young people we have in this organisation continue to impress, both with their leadership abilities and their compassionate spirit, and we have seen this across the initiatives this Ramadan.

“We at Etihad Aviation Group see the development of future generations as a priority, which is why we founded this organisation last year. I look forward to seeing the work of the Council continue to grow over time and to support its development for years to come.”

"We are delighted to extend the activities of the Council to strengthen our communication with the community through a series of initiatives,” said Ruqaia Ali Bin Rahal, chairperson of the Etihad Youth Council.

“This is one of the main objectives of the Council when it was established, and we aim to enhance the levels of youth participation in leadership and work to achieve the objectives of the UAE Vision 2021, as well as developing young talent and instilling the values of Etihad Airways and the UAE."
