In the same poll, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Corporate Treasury, Brian Jeffery was named 2012 Financier of the Year.

“To be named Airline of the Year by your industry peers is a great compliment and a reflection of the strides we continue to make as a fast-growing global airline,” said Jeffery, who received both awards on behalf of the airline. “I am also honoured to be named 2012 Financier of the Year.”

Emirates received the Airline of the Year award for its continued expansion at pace throughout 2011, during which time it continued to receive, finance and deploy aircraft whilst maintaining high standards of service and exceptional load factors. Brian Jeffery was named the winner of the prestigious industry accolade for ensuring Emirates received the best rates of finance on aircraft deliveries in a highly challenging market.

Aviation 100 is an annual poll from aviation trade publication Airline Economics which recognises the year’s leading performers in the aerospace industry. It ranks the top ten performers in each category with the winner receiving an outstanding achievement award. The categories are: Airlines, Aircraft, Lessors, MROs, Banks, Aerospace CEOs, Aerospace CFOs, Appraisers, Law Firms, and Parts Suppliers.

The awards come during a period of rapid expansion for Emirates with eight new routes joining the airline’s global network in the first half of 2012 alone. Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires launched on 3rd January, and services from Dublin commenced on 9th January. Flights to Lusaka and Harare will commence on 1st February, Dallas on 2nd February, Seattle takes off on 1st March and Ho Chi Minh City launches on 4th June.
