AIRPORT SHOW: GANS on look out for UAE locals for navigation scholarships

Abu-Dhabi based GANS is exhibiting at the Airport Show, promoting its range of professional air navigation services, but also looking to attract UAE nationals to their scholarship programme.

The company, which supports airports in Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah and is the only private air navigation service provider in the UAE, boasts a 50% Emirati workforce, fed by the GANS training centre. Eida Al Kaabi, scholarship officer, said: “We have an intake of two batches each year, with a maximum of 10 per batch, and a mixture of men and women. The numbers depend on our needs for recruitment. Through the scholarship programme our training is entirely free for UAE nationals.”

The centre has continued to deliver training throughout the pandemic, with the ICAO 051 Basic ATC course approved by the GCAA for delivery through an e-learning platform with virtual instructor-led, interactive training. The centre’s online examination invigilation procedure also attained regulatory endorsement, and the team converted and delivered the ICAO STP course ATS Supervisor via real-time online learning.

Established in 2009, the training centre offers a broad spectrum of ATS and other aviation-related courses to both national and international students. GANS had the first training centre to gain UAE GCAA certification as an ATS training organisation, and is also an ICAO regional training centre of excellence for ANS training.
