UAS scholarship and intern programme helps bridge gap between Far East and Middle East

Dubai-headquartered international trip support provider United Aviation Services (UAS) has announced the creation of The UAS Aviation Grant & Internship Program, which will allow two students from the Civil Aviation University of China to advance their aviation career and further promote professional exchange and cooperation between the Middle East and the Far East.

The scholarships will enable two students to attend in early 2014 the IATA Airport Commercial Management Course given at the Emirates Aviation College in Dubai. The programme, which includes airfare from China to Dubai, housing and tuition fees, and an internship, is valued at more than $15,000 per student. Students will be selected based on promise and academic performance, chosen by UAS and the Civil Aviation University of China. At the conclusion of the course, students will receive an IATA certification and will then begin a two-week internship at UAS’s operational centre.

“We believe that education is an ideal way for UAS to not only give back to the aviation profession but also to encourage exchange of ideas between professionals from different backgrounds while helping develop the next generation of leaders,” said Mohammed Husary, UAS co-owner and executive president.

“The Emirates Aviation College in Dubai provides an exceptional environment for young professionals to benefit from world-class training within aviation, while also experiencing a culture very different from their own,” he added.

In a service-oriented industry such as business aviation, human capital and talent management become primary competitive advantages. “UAS understands the value of investing in professional and educational training programs,” Husary said. “We are continuously looking for ways to reach beyond our operations, and contribute to professional development because ours is such a people-focused business,” he added.

In addition to The UAS Aviation Grant & Internship Program, UAS has already established a partnership with the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) offering the International Operators Scholarship to benefit business aviation professionals engaged in international operations. The scholarship programme is administered by NBAA's International Operators Committee with the support of its key sponsor and donor, UAS, the only member donor based in the Middle East.
