The agreement was signed by Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy of the UAE and chairman of GCAA, and H.E.  Dinh La Thang, Minister of Transport of Vietnam. Witnessing the ceremony was the Deputy Prime Minister of Viet Nam. The ceremony was also attended by H.E Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA and Omar Bin Ghaleb Deputy Director General of the GCAA.

The agreement allows complete flexibility on the routes, capacity, number of frequencies and types of aircraft, in any type of service (passenger or cargo).

Al Mansoori stressed the importance of this type of Air Transport Agreements, which will contribute to boosting trade, tourism and investment between UAE and Viet Nam, taking into account that now Etihad Airways and Emirates Airlines operate direct services between the two countries.

He said: “The 14 direct flights per week by Emirates Airlines and Etihad connecting Hanoi to both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have contributed significantly to increasing trade and strengthening ties among business communities in the two countries. I foresee several opportunities for the UAE and Vietnam to come together to establish stronger synergy. We look forward to building a mutually beneficial relationship moving forward.”

Said Al Suwaidi, director general, GCAA, said “Air Services Agreements like the one signed with Viet Nam will contribute to boost the trade, tourism and investment between UAE and Viet Nam, taking into account that now the designated carriers of the UAE and Viet Nam can operate direct services between the two countries.”
