The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) assistant director general air navigation services, Ahmed Al Jallaf, inaugurated the event which was organised by Airbus Prosky
In his opening speech, Al Jallaf highlighted that the aviation industry in the UAE contributes significantly to the UAE economy directly and indirectly. “The air traffic of the country has witnessed a steady growth; and is expected to continue its growth. With 2,200 air traffic movements managed today in our small sized airspace, we are forecasting to reach more than 4,600 daily air traffic movements by 2030. It is expected that hosting the Expo2020 will definitely have a big impact on these predictions,” he added.
The symposium was focused on potential solutions to enhance air traffic management proposed by airlines, air navigation services providers, airports, civil aviation authorities and other key industry stakeholders.
Al Jallaf elaborated on UAE’s efforts to enhance ATM saying that a number of initiative were implemented to achieve desired objectives. These initiatives include continuous enhancement to the ATS route structure, as well as increased cooperation with UAE military to have more flight levels for approved carriers through military airspace.
“The UAE GCAA has also adopted a culture of collaboration where we share our experiences, lessons learned and success stories with the region and the world while also maintaining a watch to learn from others experiences and best practices” Al Jallaf concluded.
