Turkish foreign minister checks on Roketsan missile development

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu paid a visit to the Roketsan manufacturing facilities in Ankara yesterday.

Roketsan is one of Turkish major weapons manufacturer and defense contractor. The company was established in 1988 with the supports of Turkey's Defense Industry Executive Committee in order to strengthen country's defense industry capacity.
Roketsan is developing Cirit , a laser-guided 70 mm rocket system which is set to equip the Turkish Army's T-129 Atak, AH-1P Cobra and AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopters with low-cost precision strike capabilities.
The missile system has been selected by Eurocopter for a test and integration program to equip the Eurocopter EC635. .
Davutoğlu's visit was aimed at getting a better understanding of the company’s activities.
Turkish defence manufacturer TAI is working on export opportunities for its ATAK helicopter and the success of Cirit could enhance its offer. Roketsan will be exhibiting at the Bahrain International Air Show next week.
