The rollout of the Lido/AMM solution to all Airbus A330/A320 family aircraft and Boeing B777/B737 aircraft will take place over the next months. This state-of-the-art application is the world's first purely data-driven airport moving map on an Electronic Flight Bag of an airliner, generating airport maps by utilizing high-precision datasets. This provides better orientation for pilots at Turkish Airlines during taxiway operations while ensuring they are kept fully up-to-date about potential changes. Lido/AMM is specifically designed to increase pilot situational awareness during ground operations.

“We have relied on navigation solutions from Lufthansa Systems for a long time now," comments Captain Serdar Girgin, B777 Fleet Manager at Turkish Airlines. “It is therefore a key benefit for us that Lido/AMM can be seamlessly integrated with our existing IT systems."

The Lido/AMM application, which is installed on board the aircraft, is based on the Lido/AMDB Airport Mapping Database. Provided by Lufthansa Systems, the database contains geo-referenced data from almost every airport worldwide. Lido/AMDB generates precise airport charts that can be used by pilots to determine and anticipate their aircraft’s exact position during taxiway operations. The highly accurate database describes the physical layout of an airport including the geometry of runways, taxiways and buildings. It also contains details covering other aspects such as surface type, object identifiers and runway slope.

To avoid information overload from this wealth of data, Lido/AMM displays only the data that is actually relevant for the pilot's current activity. The position and orientation of the aircraft are visible on-screen and Lido/AMM can also highlight the gate position or runway entry on the airport map as required. All information is displayed in relation to the airport environment.

With supporting functionalities to mitigate runway incursions Lido/AMM enhances taxi operation safety and efficiency. The airport moving map application is seamlessly integrated with proven Lido/eRouteManual electronic charting solution, which further reduces pilot’s workload and results in a greatly optimized user experience.

"We are proud that our longtime customer Turkish Airlines has decided to deploy further innovative solutions from our navigation portfolio," says Marco Cesa, SVP regional management EMEA at Lufthansa Systems. "This enables us to further expand our successful and long-standing collaboration."
