TPI takes on seven Handtmann machines

Tawazun Precision Industries (TPI) is using German machine builder Handtmann A‐Punkt Automation GmbH to help in the manufacturing of aircraft components.

Seven Handtmann machines have been installed to provide high speed aluminium machining to the aircraft component supplier.

TPI is facing orders from aerospace companies such as Airbus, Boeing and Selex, with many signing multi-year contracts, as Kyle Wagner, Operations Manager Aero‐Structures at TPI explains that “a decrease in production volumes is not of any concern at all.”

TPI predicts a 50% increase in production volumes year on year for the next three years, showing a need for the seven Handtmann five‐axis machining centres. Each machine fulfils a different task, which has helped increase cycle times at TPI.

“We want to get the absolute maximum out of the machines. They are so powerful that there is still some potential by modifying and optimizing milling strategies, optimizing programs and modifying tool selection to reach the best results possible.” said Wagner.
