Construction is planned to be completed in 18 months, according to a statement today.

This is the third tender TAV Construction has won in Saudi Arabia after the Jeddah Airport Aircraft Maintenance Hangars and Madinah Airport projects.

Speaking at the Airport Show in Dubai last week TAV said the new Saudi projects were among the most exciting in the region.

TAV chief executive Sani Sener said: “This is a very important project. Airport privatizations are continuing in Saudi Arabia. This airport is also one of those which will be privatized soon. In the meantime, our investment and operation in Medina is also ongoing. Our $ 800 million hangar construction project at Jeddah Airport also continues.”

In addition to a 100,000 square metre passenger terminal and various auxiliary facilities at Riyadh the contract covers a 90,000 sq metre and 3,000 vehicle capacity multi-story car park, fire brigade building, operation centre, power station, apron, air side infrastructure and the elevated roads and infrastructure work that will join terminal-5 to the existing terminals.
