Şener stated that the growth of the sector in the region will continue and the number of point to point flights will increase.

Sani Şener, President and CEO of TAV Group, Turkey's global brand in airport operations and construction, has participated in Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer ORAT Conference hosted by the Management Company of Oman Airports, OAMC in  Muscat, the capital of Oman.

Speaking at the panel discussion titled "The Impacts of New Airport Projects on the Growth of Airport Operators", TAV Group President & CEO Şener expressed that TAV Construction carried out runway and infrastructure works at Muscat Airport. Highlighting that they have put their signature on various projects in the region, Şener underlined that the sector will continue its growth in the region.

Şener said: "The axis of the world economy has been shifting towards the East which is an undeniable fact. We can say that the growth in the region will continue. To give examples from Atatürk Airport, we only had 10 million passengers when we began our operations in 2000. The airport currently serves 57 million passengers. We have experienced a significant acceleration. Furthermore, when we consider Atlanta Heathrow or Charles de Gaulle airports, their growth rate has been 1-2 per cent for many years. We can say that they are at saturation point. It is fair to say that the growth will continue in the regions. According to Airports Council International (ACI) data, there are 5 billion passengers worldwide at the moment. This figure will reach 10 billion in the following years. Most of the growth will be in the East. Both airlines and airports will grow but airports will become commercial enterprises rather than being infrastructure investments solely. According to the data of the sector players, there are new trends in the aviation sector. The number of point to point flights and new destinations will increase and the role of airports within transportation will expand."

TAV Group President & CEO Sani Şener also made a presentation titled "Three Rules of Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer". During the conference, Şener also stated that TAV Information Technologies signed a collaboration agreement with Management Company of Oman Airports, OAMC, which is the airport authority of Oman. According to the agreement, bilateral exchange programs, joint projects and consultancy projects will be carried out.

Gathering international consultancy companies, airport operators and public authorities that carry out airport operations and activities, the event which is being held on March 25th and 26th 2015, aims at highlighting the significance of ORAT within airport operations with the successful airport examples. Hosting the event, OAMC is the government organization which is responsible from management and operations of Salalah, Sohar and Duqm airports as well as  Muscat Airport, Oman's biggest airport. The world's biggest airport construction company, TAV Construction carried out runway and infrastructure works at  Muscat Airport, which is Oman's biggest entrance gate.
