Saudi F-15 fleet to be armed with SLAM-ER
The Saudi Air Force, working with the US Navy, is believed to have ordered 650 AGM SLAM-ER missiles for its fleet of 66 F-15S and 78 F-15SA fighters.
The request listed in a $1.97 billion Foreign Military Sales contract in Washington will require approval by US Senate. Boeing has been building a new facility to build the SLAM-ER as well as AGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles which will begin production next year.
“We are pleased to continue our long legacy of partnering with the Navy to build weapons that defend America and its international partners,” says Cindy Gruensfelder, vice president, Boeing Weapons.
