It has announced today the introduction of a state-of-the-art employee intranet portal aimed at integrating all employee internal communications, business process management (BPM) and workflow automation onto one easy-to-use platform,

The private charter group, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, has introduced its SAWA system as part of a strategy of bringing together employees to share a common vision of making Royal Jet the best private charter company in the world.  Employees are encouraged to access and share information, ideas and other work related developments. ‘SAWA’ is an Arabic word which means ‘together’.

Amna Al Mansouri, (above) Vice President of Royal Jet’s Human Resources and Administration Department, explains that integrating the Human Resources Management System within MS SharePoint is the first of its kind in the region. “While some additional enhancements are currently underway, the new intranet portal already represents a breakthrough development,” she says.  “Employees will be encouraged to bookmark the site, making it their own personal workspace so that they will have instant access to the most timely internal communications, useful information and online services anytime, anywhere.”

As well as streamlining processes, improving internal communication and information sharing, and facilitating online collaboration, SAWA will also help in reducing costs associated with new IT investments and will use the latest available services in hosting and maintaining the new employee portal.

To facilitate the setting up of this project, Royal Jet appointed Generica Systems for its expertise and track record in developing and delivering cutting-edge SharePoint-based applications to customers. The Human Resources and Administration Department worked closely with Generica in mapping out the interrelationships between departments, whilst a project committee was set up to ensure all requirements would be considered.

The site itself will comprise four main sections with a main portal offering announcements, employee communications and general information; a departmental portal containing information of relevance to particular departments or divisions within the company; a Human Resources section containing leave and salary information, requests for official documents, and video demonstrations; and personal space for each employee where they can store records and documents, as well as set up a social networking page where an employee can upload photos, and create his or her own personal profile.

Royal Jet’s President and CEO, Shane O’Hare, says that using SAWA will streamline all internal processes into one integrated, easily accessible portal.  “Employees will now be able to view internal news, apply for services, collaborate more effectively and keep updated on projects relevant to their departments on a continuous basis,” he says.

“Royal Jet continues to receive many accolades from around the world such as World’s Leading Private Jet Charter at the World Travel Awards earlier this year. We have been active in diversifying our business to encompass a range of offerings in addition to our mainstream jet charters, including our Fixed Base Operations VIP terminal, Medical Evacuation Services, a Charter Brokerage and aircraft management services.

“But although we are the undisputed regional leaders in our industry, this does not mean we can become complacent in the way we conduct our business. This new employee intranet portal will help us remain in pole position by ensuring that with first class communications across the entire company, we can give our guests and potential customers the very best service possible,” he concluded.
