Royal Jet charts best summer performance to date

Posted 30 July 2012 · Add Comment

An increase in the number of flying hours has contributed to the best summer in the history of Royal Jet - the Abu Dhabi-based international luxury flight services company chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.

Royal Jet’s total number of flying hours in summer 2012 across its entire fleet was up 19 per cent compared with the same season last year and follows the best Q1 performance in the company’s history, which saw a 15 per cent increase in revenue over the same period last year.

While the UK, Switzerland, France, Germany and Saudi Arabia remain the top destinations for Royal Jet’s customers, there has been an increase in trips to the US and Asia as well.

The highest increase in flying hours was for Royal Jet’s BBJs which rose by 25 per cent remaining the top choice for customers, accounting for almost three-quarters of all flying hours.

Shane O’Hare, president and CEO of Royal Jet said: “We continue to raise the bar on our operational performance and following a record year in 2011 and the best ever Q1 performance, the figures for the summer period reflect our staff success and the ongoing impact of our business realignment programme which concluded last year.

“Summer is traditionally a period of increased travel and we expect that we will continue to see strong results with the 2012 Olympics in London and people making Umrah trips during Ramadan.  The entire team – crew, operations, scheduling and sales – has worked tirelessly to achieve this success and will continue to work hard to maintain Royal Jet’s position as the operator of choice in the region by providing an innovative, world-class service.”

Royal Jet is currently investing $9 million in the interior refurbishment of its Boeing Business Jets. Upgrades include a new state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system, live TV, SATCOM, Wi-Fi and global mobile systems (GSM), while furnishings such as luxury seats and sleeper beds will also be enhanced.
