The road towards achieving this internationally recognised certificate began two-and-a-half years ago, before HIA was even open, with rigorous planning and by creating a complete quality assurance programme that is ISO compliant.

As part of this ongoing programme all new staff members who join the company are required to embark on a series of Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) certifications and are trained to value the importance of food safety as part of everything they do. Every member of the team has level 1 HACCP and others also have level 2 and 3.

“We started two-and-a-half years ago, planning to ensure we aligned with ISO practices, so to have been awarded ISO within only nine months of operation is an incredible achievement,” said senior vice president Qatar Duty Free, Keith Hunter. “QDF has some extremely exciting concepts coming on line and we are pleased that both HACCP and ISO will form the foundation of everything we do moving forward.”
