The new route increases Qatar Airways’ extensive global network to seven gateways within the United States and 144 destinations worldwide.

Dallas/Fort Worth becomes Qatar Airways' second destination in Texas, representing the airline’s enduring commitment to the region. Along with Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth will serve as a crucial junction between Qatar Airways’ global network, via Doha, and other key destinations across the Southwestern USA, including Austin, San Antonio and Oklahoma City, through its oneworld alliance partners.

“We are delighted to welcome Dallas/Fort Worth into our expanding global network,” said Qatar Airways chief executive officer, Akbar Al Baker. “We are particularly pleased to begin serving the home city of our oneworld alliance partner American Airlines. Together, we can provide North Texas and the surrounding region with unparalleled service and better connections to Doha and around the world.”

Dallas/Fort Worth is a world centre for major American corporations, including Justin Boots, Texas Instruments, Frito Lay and AT&T. The region is also home to major oil and gas companies, including Exxon Mobil.

“Our partnership with Qatar Airways and this inaugural flight from Doha is exciting for the Airport and the millions of passengers we serve. Dallas/Fort Worth customers now have nonstop access to a new destination in the Gulf Region,” said Sean Donohue, DFW Airport’s Chief Executive Officer. “DFW is an integral economic driver to the region and this new nonstop service will add approximately $200 million annually to our economy.”

Analyst Saj Ahmad commented: “Qatar Airways expansion in the United States further opens up new connections for Middle East passengers via its state of the art facility at Hamad International Airport in Doha.

“Using the world's longest ranged jet in the 777-200LR not only provides direct non-stop flights, Qatar Airways, like Emirates and Etihad, is able to open up a new market that many US airlines will simply never serve. The business district in Dallas is huge and the potential for snaring high fare, high yield passengers is a key driver behind launching this route.”

Ahmad added: “With Qatar Airways awaiting delivery of both its first A380 and A350-900, the potential to increase frequencies or boost capacity is within scope - and then there is the added benefit of linking with its oneworld partner American Airlines out of Dallas to offer customers a huge gateway for access right across the breadth of the USA.”

The new route flies daily between Dallas/Fort Worth and Doha, departing from Doha at 8:10am and arriving into Dallas/Fort Worth at 3:35pm the same day. Overnight service to Doha departs Dallas/Fort Worth at 8:00pm and lands in Doha at 6:20pm the following day. The route is operated with a Boeing 777-200LR configured with 217 Economy Class seats and 42 Business Class seats.
