In July 2013, aircraft movements totalled 11,355 representing a 12.1% increase compared to aircraft movements in July 2012, and cargo traffic grew by 26.6%, reaching 63,794 tonnes of cargo moved.

Commenting on the traffic report Ahmad Al Haddabi, chief operations officer at Abu Dhabi Airports Company said: “Efforts to attract new airline partners and new routes have led to yet another month of steady growth in passenger traffic, making Abu Dhabi International Airport one of the world’s fastest growing airports. This continued growth in passenger traffic is the catalyst for the Capacity Enhancement Programme, which will enable AUH to accommodate more than 17 million annual passengers through the completion of vital projects, including the new Arrivals Hall.”

July saw the beginning of three weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Nairobi from the airport’s new partner Kenya Airways, which contributed to increased passenger traffic.

The top five destinations in July 2013 were Bangkok, London, Manila, Jeddah and Doha.
