Massoud was formerly the chairman and chief executive of the EgyptAir holding company before becoming the country's civil aviation minister - a post he held until the recent Egyptian elections.

During 2011, he stepped in as chairman of AFRAA and helped the association through a difficult period and brought unity while guiding the association through the creis and helped develop a business plan that has enabled the body to succeed, AFRAA said at the presentation.

He was presented with a commemorative trophy by South Africa's minister of public enterprises Malusi Gigaba.
