Libyan Wings set for November 4 restart for Istanbul service

Libyan Wings, the privately-owned carrier operating out of Tripoli, will next week recommence its twice-weekly service to Istanbul. The carrier launched and cancelled the Istanbul service – its inaugural route - on September 25 after the Turkish government issued a ruling requiring Libyans to have visas to the country on the same day as the carrier entered the market.

The airline’s CEO, Edgardo Badiali told the Aviation Festival MENA in Dubai that the service will restart November 4 used a leased A310 in a two-class configuration with 12 seats in business class and 108 in economy. The airline took delivery of the A310 – its second - this week. Libyan Wings already operates an A319 on a twice-daily service to Tunis which Badiali says has been recording a 70% passenger load factor since the service began on October 5.

Badiali told the Festival that Libyan Wings hopes to up its Tunis frequency to thrice daily and is also eyeing a twice-weekly service to Khartoum with additional hopes for services to Beirut.
