Iraq Airports Conference discussed increased airport facilities in Iraq

Iraq is experiencing rapid growth in its airports, passenger and cargo traffic defying the current political situations, particularly in relation to the number of massive airport infrastructure development projects to meet the growing demand in air travel industry, totaling more than US$10bn expansions.

Delegates presented a series of papers to more than 200 delegates at the 4th Iraq Airports Conference and Exhibition that highlighted the Iraq's airport sector growth and the investment opportunities in transport and logistics. 

Over 40 exhibiting companies representing various segments of the aviation industry including airports from Erbil, Baghdad, Sulaimaniyah, Basrah, Duhok and Kirkuk, construction, consultants, radars, ATC, Training, ground handling services, ground handling equipment manufacturers, design, airlines, cargo and logistics services providers demonstrated their new technologies, capacities and capabilities at the event. 

Speaking on the Day 1 of the conference, H.E. Tahir Abdullah, Director General of Sulaimaniyah "highlighted the investment opportunities in the region, increased passenger and cargo traffic, recently opened new cargo village at the airport and firm recommendations to the Iraq Civil Aviation Authority, the requirement for more bilateral agreements, less regulations for the private carriers those are servicing Iraq airports and to meet the global aviation standards, which will favour the national economy in return and the growth of the aviation industry in Iraq.” 

The event was sponsored by Erbil International Airport, Boeing, G4s and Hill International. The 5th annual edition of the Iraq Airports Conference and Exhibition will be held on 4-5th of November 2015 at Divan Hotel, Erbil – KRG – Iraq and officially hosted by Erbil International Airport.
