ICAO Adopts UAE security proposal

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in line with its strategic objectives and aim to continuously cooperate with all strategic partners conducted a series of Civil Aviation Search and Rescue (SAR) workshops during the current week at GCAA Regional Office in Dubai.

The objective of the workshops was to test-drive the current communication strategies in case of an aviation incident through a communication exercise between Dubai Airport and Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Center in Abu Dhabi. 

GCAA’s Search and Rescue Communication exercise aims to test the communication standards and formalize the exchange of necessary information and details between the involved parties. 

Over 30 participants from Search and Rescue service providers in the UAE participated in the drill. SAR providers in UAE includes UAE Armed Force, Abu Dhabi Police, Dubai Police and Abu Dhabi Aviation. 

HE Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, director general of GCAA stressed on the importance of such workshops and stated “The success of Civil Aviation Search and Rescue in the UAE can only be achieved through collaborative efforts and close cooperation among all Stakeholders”.
