The suspension was due to safety and security concerns in the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport and in light of the airline’s commitment to the safety and security of its passengers and crew.

The airline conducted comprehensive safety and security assessments over the past week alongside in depth consultations with airport and security officials in the Iraqi capital in addition to ongoing coordination with the airline’s representation in Baghdad as well as the Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority.

A number of International carriers have also resumed their Baghdad operations, alongside Gulf Air. In addition to its three weekly flights to and from Baghdad International Airport, Gulf Air operates daily flights to Najaf which have not been impacted throughout this period.
