Gulf Air recognised for IT innovation

Gulf Air has been listed among the top 50 organizations in the Middle East for its outstanding achievements in information technology for the third consecutive year.

At the ‘CIO 50 Awards and Forum 2014’ in Dubai the airline was honored for introducing advanced and innovative technologies aimed at improving the national carrier’s business efficiency, optimizing business processes and fostering collaboration, thereby adding value to passengers.
Receiving the award on behalf of Gulf Air, director of information technology Dr. Jassim Haji said, “Gulf Air’s steadfast commitment and focus on information technology excellence as a key business enabler is reflected in our receiving this prestigious award for the third consecutive year. We are delivering our promise to continuously improve our services to better serve our passengers and winning this award demonstrates the success of our efforts in utilizing state-of-the-art technology to deliver value to our customers."
Recently, Gulf Air became one of the first airlines to successfully complete the Oracle E-Business suite upgrade to R12 using the national carrier’s in-house IT capabilities. Further, the airline was the first organization in Bahrain to introduce Cloud Computing in its IT operations, enabling faster and more efficient business performance with resulting enhanced customer service. It has also utilized the latest IT Technology to harness Big Data and perform Arabic Sentiment Analysis of social media about the airline.
