Gulf Air enhances IT security solutions with HP

Gulf Air has engaged with Hewlett-Packard (HP) to evaluate the airline's existing information security solutions and, as a result, has most recently implemented HP latest generation of Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) to bolster its Information Technology security and network data protection.

This agreement will ensure that Gulf Air customers’ information is secure while maintaining an efficient and easy-to-use service that facilitates all their travel requirements.” 

Commenting on the national carrier’s latest Information Technology development Dr. Jassim Haji, Gulf Air director of information technology, said: “With HP TippingPoint Next-Generation IPS, Gulf Air is proactively securing and blocking malicious inbound and outbound traffic. We value HP’s role as an IT security industry leader and trust their commitment to always remaining abreast of industry developments in order to better help us adapt the most current and effective security measures – thereby securing our internal data and that of our passengers.”

To date, Gulf Air is one of few regional airlines to hold the global ISO certification for its information security management system and was the first airline in the region to be certified with Information Technology ISO certifications in the three areas of Quality Management, Service Management and Information Security Management Systems. The national carrier’s most recent IT achievements also include being the first organization in Bahrain to introduce Private Cloud Computing in its IT operations, further enhancing customer service for the airline’s passengers.
