GCAA Hosts 6th Ramp Inspection Training

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) Foreign Operators Affairs department, in their capacity representing the UAE as a participating State to the European Union EASA Ramp Inspection programme, has successfully concluded the Sixth Ramp Inspection Training programme which was delivered in Dubai from 19 to 23 April 2015 and was attended by delegates from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Tajikistan, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah Civil Aviation Authorities, Emirates Airlines and GCAA employees.

The content of the course was fully in line with the GCAA training standing orders/instructions and the European Commission Ramp Inspection, Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft (SAFA) program, consisted of four days theoretical class room training including a knowledge test, followed by one day  practical on the field training in a ‘live’ aircraft, simulating a Ramp Inspection, at Emirates Engineering hangar; total of five days and very positive and enthusiastic feedback was provided by all participants. The GCAA Instructors were commended for the form and content of the course as well as training delivery and the vibrant exchange of technical and safety information in a positive learning environment. 

Matar Rashed Al Suwaidi , acting director of Foreign Operators Affairs, mentioned during his opening/welcoming speech to the delegates: “The GCAA being a leading Aviation Authority in the wider region, is actively promoting aviation safety by several means, including the preparation and delivery of technical training courses in order to raise the safety awareness and achieve higher safety levels for the industry”.
