Flynas has announced the start of non-stop flights from Riyadh to London Gatwick from 27 July 2014 – part of its successful Global Flight Routes programme, which was launched earlier this year.

The flights will operate twice weekly between the two capital cities and will utilize wide-bodied A330 craft. The announcement of the Riyadh-London Gatwick non-stop route closely follows the Saudi carrier’s launch of direct flights from Jeddah - London Gatwick and Jeddah - Manchester, both of which began operations in April 2014.

flynas is expected to capitalize on the high-traffic Eid holiday period over the launch week of operations for the new route. London continues to top the lists of most popular European holiday destinations for individuals from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to being a key hub for business travel. As an inbound destination, Saudi Arabia in turn continues to command a large share of religious tourism from the UK’s resident Muslim population. The new route is expected to offer highly affordable fares to both inbound and outbound passengers.

Wael Al Sarhan, director of marketing and communications at flynas, said: “Our focus is on offering our guests competitively priced and convenient flight options. The non-stop flights will significantly add capacity during the peak Eid and summer holiday period.”

Al Sarhan added, “The flynas routes between London Gatwick and Manchester to Jeddah have worked very well since the April launch. European destinations, such as London, are the summer holiday destination of choice for Saudi travellers and we anticipate that the new Riyadh route will be equally successful."
