Under the deal, which is for 600 hours a month, FAS operates the three, twin-engine, medium range, 78-seater new generation turbo props out of the new domestic airline’s Almaty base. FAS has hired 30 pilots and 15 engineers to fulfil the contract all of whom are based out of Almaty on a rotational basis. Qazak Air is 100% owned by Kazakhstan’s Sovereign Fund, the Samruk Kazyna National Fund.
The fourth FAS Dash 8 Q400 continues in service in Ghana for the Accra-based, privately-owned domestic airline StarBow under an ACMI contract to operate out of Kotoka International Airport. The fifth FAS Q400, which was in service with a Senegal airline, has now been withdrawn from the country to commence two aircraft Dash 8, Q 400 NG operations for Abu Dhabi-based oil companies. The operations commenced two months ago from the UAE capital’s Al Bateen Airport.
