Etihad and OEMServices in A380 component supply and inventory deal

Etihad Airways has signed a 10-year contract with Paris headquartered OEMServices, a joint venture of Diehl Aerospace, Liebherr Aerospace, Thales and Zodiac Aerospace, for the supply of component pool and repair services for its growing A380 fleet.

The contract ensures 24/7 provision of support, repair services, and access to OEMServices’ stock of line replaceable equipment for the EY A380 fleet at its Abu Dhabi hub.

Jeff Wilkinson, Etihad Airways’ Senior Vice President - Technical, said: “This contract means
we have immediate access to a wide range of high value components and support services
to ensure our new fleet of A380 aircraft is kept operational, and any downtime due to
equipment failure is kept to an absolute minimum.

“By entering into this contract we are able to benefit with significant inventory cost savings on
the charges that would be incurred with a stand-alone model, while having direct access to a
large inventory of mission-critical equipment, including avionic computers and hydraulic and
pneumatic equipment.”

OEM Services operates a facility in Jebel Ali Dubai. Its CEO, Didier Granger said the deal further consolidated the company’s presence in the Middle East.

In 2008 EY announced plans to acquire up to 205 wide and narrow-body aircraft
Including, an order for 10 A380 aircraft. Its first A380 was introduced last December,
and four more will arrive in this year with the remainder scheduled for delivery
before 2025.
