The 24th Annual Communicator Awards, which were announced in New York, recognise creative excellence and innovation in global marketing and communications.

A stylish manual for the modern traveller, Atlas provides an authoritative global briefing to readers on the month’s hot topics covering the fields of food, fashion, culture, travel, business and technology. The style and outlook of the magazine mirror Etihad’s own design values and focus on attention to detail, which have set the acclaimed UAE national airline apart since it started flying in 2003.

Jamal Al Awadhi, Etihad Airways Head of Guest Experience Commercial, said: “We launched Atlas in March 2017, together with our partner Ink, confident in the knowledge that we were striving for and delivering the highest levels of editorial quality and astounding photographic talent, giving our guests a unique lifestyle overview which covers the globe, and the growth of Etihad, with the professionalism, colour and flair which they have come to expect from us, and which tells the stories currently trending in the changing world around us.

“We are tremendously proud to receive these two coveted awards only a year after Atlas first went to print. It is a welcome validation of our efforts to create a magazine which is as informative and entertaining as it is visually and emotionally evocative.”

The clever use of stunning photography, most obviously displayed in the signature ‘Day in the Life’ photo-essay, resulted in success in the Design Features - Photography category, while the selection of Atlas in the category of Design Features - Overall Design was recognition of the sophisticated and aspirational feature layouts that have characterised the magazine since its launch, inspiring readers to travel to the airline’s Abu Dhabi home, and to far-flung destinations around the world.

The Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards programme honouring creative excellence for communications professionals. Entries are received from all over the United States and the rest of the world and are judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), a 600-plus member organisation of leading professionals from the various disciplines of the visual arts.
