Emirates deploys A380 across the GCC amid Eid rush

Emirates has touched down in Bahrain International Airport and Hamad International Airport in Doha this weekend with its popular A380 aircraft for one-off services.

The special A380 flights were at full capacity, supporting the sizable traffic over the Eid Holiday period from both countries. 

This marked the first ever scheduled service of an Emirates A380 to Qatar. This was the third time the Emirates A380 lands in Bahrain. 

Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, divisional senior vice president commercial operations centre said: “Emirates is currently operating a one-off ad-hoc Airbus A380 services to Bahrain and Doha due to significant demand for air travel during the Eid Holiday period. Although we have no immediate plans to operate an A380 on those routes in the near future, we remain committed to providing customers in Bahrain and Qatar with seamless connectivity to the Far East, North America, Europe and the Middle East through our Dubai hub. The signature Emirates A380 service is fundamental to our overall strategy, and bringing this popular aircraft to both destinations represents significant milestones in our operations.” 

Emirates has carried over 430,000 passengers to and from Doha from January of this year. Emirates serves the Qatari capital with seven daily services. In its first seven months of operations for 2015, Emirates carried over 225,000 passengers to and from Bahrain, and serves the destination with 28 weekly services.
