EgyptAir takes delivery of its first 787-9 Dreamliner

Minister Younis ElMasry said: “This is an achievement carried out by Egyptian Civil Aviation personnel, who are willing to accomplish more success for the progress of the air industry in Egypt.”

He added: “I am pleased to witness this moment when EGYPTAIR look forward to resuming its leading role in the region, bringing customers to the world in innovation, comfort, and style.”

The aircraft has been received at Cairo Airport by Capt. Ahmed Adel - Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir t Holding;  Captain Ashraf El-Kholy – chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR Airlines alongside VIP dignitaries and guests and local and international media.

Adel said: “We are delighted to welcome the first B787-9 Dreamliner to our fleet. We have accomplished a great deal of our development strategy set under the umbrella of Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, and we are seeking for the best. Today’s delivery marks a new chapter for EGYPTAIR and Egypt’s Civil Aviation Sector. EGYPTAIR’s 787 Dreamliner, one of the most technologically advanced aircraft, is the perfect platform for our transition to a global network carrier.”

In 2017, the national air carrier added nine aircraft of B737-800 Next Generation to join the airline’s fleet. It was the same year; EGYPTAIR announced the joining of 33 aircraft to be joining the fleet by the end of 2020. – (6) B787-9 Dreamliner, (12) A220-300, and (15) A320neo.
