Dubai Airshow: Fujairah MRO joins Lockheed Martin alliance

Fujairah based MRO company Skyone Maintenance Services (SMS) has signed a business alliance agreement with Lockheed Martin's Kelly Aviation Center (LMKAC), a provider of engine MRO services.

“Our chairman, Jaideep Mirchandani’s vision is to be a premier provider of commercial aircraft and engines throughout the Middle East,” said Salim ‘Sam’ Sayani, Skyone’s chief executive officer. “Lockheed Martin’s Kelly Aviation Center’s expertise will help us provide our customers with a single center of MRO services for airframes and engines. Through these technical and commercial collaborations, we are implementing phase one of our plans to develop our 225,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art MRO facility that is near completion in Fujairah, UAE.”

 LMKAC, the Lockheed Martin subsidiary is recognised as a centre of excellence for commercial and military aircraft engine maintenance, repair, overhaul and test, providing services for 11 different engines, including those that power the B737, B747, B767, A300, A320, DC-10, F-15, F-16, C-130, and regional jets such as the Bombardier CRJ.

 “We have already performed engine MRO work with Skyone with great success, and we are eager to continue to support Skyone’s vision for the future,” said LMKAC’s director of business development, Frank Cowan,  at the Dubai Airshow.

 SMS is based at the Fujairah Airport in the most easterly of the United Arab Emirates and provides aircraft maintenance, field recovery teams and material support to operators of a wide range of Airbus and Boeing aircraft types, including the B737 family, A320 and B747.
