Cairo presses on with airport improvements

Egypt's Ministry of Civil Aviation is pressing ahead with infrastructure improvements at Cairo's main international airport despite rising concerns about the stability and safety for visitors to the capital.

Among the projects is a Airotel, developed a subsidiary of the ministry, which is working on a new hotel connected to Terminal 3.

 The hotel is due to have its soft opening in November.
Abdel Aziz Fadel, Minister of Civil Aviation toured the site and said: "The challenges posed by the current situation will not hinder us from looking for better tomorrow and to continue planning and executing large projects for the welfare of the civil aviation sector”.
He also added: “The current government is persistent on mapping of the future for the New Egypt to secure tangible growth to the Egyptian economy, with aviation and tourism sectors as main factors for such growth.”
Fadel said that the new hotel reinforces the capabilities of Cairo International airport as a hub, “especially in the light of the significant growth of transit passengers this year; the hotel also offers 600 new jobs for Egyptian youth," he said.
Airotel chairman, Ragia El Gayar, described the new hotel as having  349 rooms including 18 suites and one presidential suite, it is also furnished with four main restaurants as well as a wedding and meeting hall that can accommodate up to 400 people,
The new hotel will be connected with Terminal 3 through a pedestrian bridge .it is also connected to Terminal 2.
