ATR receives EASA for new cabin layout

ATR has received EASA certification for its high-density cabin layout for the ATR 72-600 that brings the maximum capacity from 74 to 78.

The layout uses the existing airframe, but optimises the seat pitch and adjusts the forward cargo compartment, adding revenue potential for airlines.

“The demand comes from airlines, especially in the Southeast Asian market, requesting to further optimize the cabin space and to increase the number of available seats for regional flights,” said Thierry Casale, ATR senior vice president Programmes.

Cebu Pacific became the first carrier to choose the high-density layout, and it is expected that the first 78 seat aircraft will enter commercial service in August of next year.

The new cabin layout is also available as a retrofit.
