ATR’s forecast has shown that as population and connectivity needs are growing, turboprops will play a role in aiding community development by linking smaller airports and providing regional access.

With annual regional traffic expected to grow by 3.9%, ATR predicts that 1,000 turboprops will be replacing older aircraft, whilst the others will account for fleet growth as 3,00 new routes are forecast to be developed.

The new routes expected to develop include 1,400 routes in Asia-Pacific, 800 across the Americas and 800 between Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The use of turboprops helps reduce regional aviation CO2 emissions and can be financially viable in a volatile market.
