Assuit Airport reopens for business after runway works

Runway renovation at the Egyptian regional airport of Assuit in the New Valley area have been completed and Assuit International Airport has reopened to commercial traffic after a year's closure.

The first flight to arrive at Assiut International Airport was an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah.
The 150 passengers on the flight were greeted in Assuit by airport workers bearing flowers.
Mohamed, Mahgoub, chairman of the Egyptian Company for Airports told Youm7 that the cost of the runway resurfacing and work cost $16.5m.  

Flights during the period were diverted to Sohag.
