Singapore Airlines subsidiary SIA Engineering announced today that it has won another contract from Bahrain's Gulf Air.
The Bahrain national carrier is reported to have signed a contract giving an additional $35 million in work to the Siingaporean business which last month won a major $100 million contract for maintenance of 14 A320s, six A330s and nine Airbus A340from the airline. In a statement issued in Singapore on Friday, SIA Engineering (SIAEC) says it will now handle maintenance on an additional four Airbus A330s and one A320. At a signing ceremony today officiated by Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Transport and Finance, SIAEC and Gulf Air The company also says it will also be increasing the scope of its services beyond what was outlined in the earlier contract. Minister Lim Hwee Hua said: “Today’s signing ceremony is significant in more ways than one. Gulf Air’s expanded partnership with SIAEC not only marks the increasing importance of our aerospace industry, but also shows the growing economic and strategic links between Singapore and the Middle East. I am indeed pleased to note that SIAEC is making inroads into the Middle East market."
