Brief Description:
Our Client is an international logistics and facilities management provider who specialise in providing food logistics, catering, aviation, retail, fuel supply, transport and warehousing and camp services in post conflict and remote areas.
Our Client is the Aviation Division of this expanding Group and provides vital services in supply air logistics to remote sites in post conflict locations and remote areas.
They are currently seeking a Tactical Business Development Manager to be based in Afghanistan.
Our Client and the Role:
Founded in 1957, our client has over 50 years of experience developing and operating customized supply chain and associated service solutions in demanding environments.
Supported by a world-wide network of resources including state – of – the – art warehousing facilities, bulk fuel installations and real time freight tracking capabilities, our client provides workable resolutions to complex client requirements in the areas of food logistics, catering, retail, aviation, transport and warehousing, camp services and fuel management.
Our Client is the Aviation Division of this rapidly expanding group and provides vital services in supply air logistics to remote sites in post conflict locations and remote areas. They ensure essential items such as fresh food and other time critical cargo is delivered with minimal disruption, under the most challenging conditions.
They are currently seeking a Tactical Business Development Manager to be based in Afghanistan.
Reporting into the Aviation Business Development Manager, the successful candidate will identify and develop business opportunities for our client at the forward deployed.
You will develop and assess latent market needs and perform timely and accurate frontline analyses and correlation which result in our client providing solutions to potential customer problems.
You will identify, assess and track competitors, develop and analyze courses of action to gain competitive advantage by matching our clients’ strengths against competitor weaknesses.
You will promote our clients capabilities and advantages with key civilian and military leaders and combat support elements in Afghanistan.
Specifically you will develop a depth of understanding and situational awareness of the combat and combat support environments in Afghanistan, to identify potential aviation opportunities.
You will develop professional and personal relationships with Commanders, Staff, Officers and other key combat decision makers and will provide information regarding our clients capabilities and experience to appropriate combat decision makers.
You will develop a robust relationship / network with combat support and transport/logistic elements and will collect information on competitors and commercial activities in Afghanistan.
You will assess our clients’ capabilities to define the competitive advantages, in relation to the commercial activities in Afghanistan, and use them to gain commercial advantage.
You will provide advice to Senior Management and key decision makers at corporate and country level with the best, most current information on the commercial marketplace in Afghanistan.
You will promote our client with a positive, confidence-inspiring image which positions key decision makers to include our client as a potential solution in their planning; particularly to satisfy immediate demands.
Finally you will manage relationships with key stakeholders within the Afghan Military area of operations.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will need to be an accomplished aviation professional with a thorough understanding of the “sales cycle” supported by either an MBA or a Degree in Business Administration, Sales or Marketing.
You will have the ability to recognize customer requirements and needs prior to the customers’ realization of such needs and have the ability to develop a business plan and execute cost modelling.
In terms of sales skills you will be expected to have good closing skills, prospecting skills, sales planning, selling to customer needs, territory management, market knowledge, presentation skills, achieving sales goals and high levels of energy, self motivation and professionalism.
Experience as a Ramp Manager, or equivalent position, in commercial combat support and aviation logistics operations within the Afghanistan military area of operations is highly desirable.
Able to build strong customer relationships and interface with senior Military, UN and NATO Officers, you will have experience of military, government, non –government and commercial contracts process: request for bid, tender etc.
You should have previous military experience in the area of aviation, air movements, transport or logistics, preferably with tours in Iraq or Afghanistan.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally some Russian and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers License and be PC / IT literate particularly with PowerPoint, Project, Visio and spreadsheets.
This is an outstanding challenge for an aviation business development professional looking for something different.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, medical / health insurance, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are all provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.
Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is approximately 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off.
In addition Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
