New low cost start-up sets up shop in Amman

Jordan is to get a new start-up airline which will focus on routes between Amman and tourist locations in Turkey, Egypt, Bulgaria and Russia.
The airline is called Space Airlines and will begin operations from Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) early next year with the first leased aircraft - a Boeing 737-400 - expecting to be delivered to QAIA by the end of this month.
Space Airlines has signed a tenancy agreement with Airport International Group (AIG), at QAIA giving it a maintenance zone on the northern apron and a terminal office in T1..
Curtis Grad, AIG’s chief executive said "We are pleased to be signing this agreement with Space Airlines which will further support our ongoing efforts to further develop and diversify air service at QAIA. We look forward to building a long-term and prosperous relationship with Space Airlines."
Space Airlines Captain Basil Obeidat, chief executive said, "Space Airlines is proud to be signing an agreement with AIG, resulting in the launch of our new services from QAIA, an airport that is witnessing significant growth and tangible increase in traffic. In addition, the capital Amman provides the ideal backdrop, fast becoming a hub and major destination for passengers and airlines from around the world."
