DHL honoured by Bahrain customs

Bahrain Customs Authorities honoured the DHL Express Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT) with a 'Certificate of Appreciation' for the company's dedication to the growth of Bahrain's logistics industry and continuous cooperation with the Bahrain Customs Authorities over the last 30 years.

 Bachi Spiga, Head of Operations, DHL Express MENAT; Ali Aryan, Customs and Regulatory Affairs Manager, DHL Express MENAT and Mark Benton, DHL Express Bahrain Country Manager received this token of appreciation and two plaques in recognition of their contributions and support of the Bahrain Customs Affairs on the occasion of International Customs Day.

“DHL Express is delighted and honored to be bestowed with this special recognition which epitomizes our logistical excellence and demonstrates efficiency and professionalism to meet and exceed customer satisfaction and regulatory requirements. This recognition further underscores DHL Express’s experience and relationship with Bahrain Customs Authorities that has helped the organization to cater to customers through numerous service improvements including Security, EDI interface, exchange of knowledge, training and service level improvements,” said Bachi Spiga, Head of Operations, DHL Express Middle East, North Africa and Turkey .

The Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to DHL Express Middle East, North Africa and Turkey by Basim Yacob Al Hamer, Director of Customs, Kingdom of Bahrain on the occasion of International Customs Day on January 26, 2010. The certification stated: “Customs Affairs is pleased to extend its sincere thanks and gratitude to Mr. Bachi Spiga DHL Bahrain. In recognition of your support and co-operation which has led to significant achievements to Customs affairs, we present this certificate in appreciation of hard work and efforts.”  

The DHL Regional Distribution Centre in Bahrain runs a close-knit network with Europe and Asia and acts as a link to both the continents. “ Over 3.6 million shipments and nine thousand flights run through our Middle East hub annually.  Through open-dialogue and on-going consultation with the Bahrain Customs Authorities on relevant issues, DHL receives the support we need to effectively provide market leading services to the Middle East and surrounding regions ,” said Garry Kemp, Managing Director, DHL Express Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.

The recognition from the Bahrain Customs Affairs adds to the list of certifications recently awarded to DHL Express. The DHL Express Bahrain Hub achieved the maximum score for Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) security audit, the highest security international certification, which continues the company’s outstanding TAPA certification history in the Middle East while setting new records in security standards.
