Thales has won a contract with Saudia Airlines to install its TopSeries Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) system on 54 of the carrier's aircraft.

Starting Q1 2013, the airline will introduce the OEM's award-winning Avant system, as well as its TopConnect connectivity suite and AVA, the new wireless content streaming solution to its future aircraft.

The latest arrangement covers the Saudia Airbus A320, A330, B777 and 787 fleets.

Speaking at the Airline Passenger Experience Show today, Alan Pellegrini Thales' CEO said: "We are developing our core competencies in all consumer areas and will have some exciting announcements and displays at the show."

Thales is the first manufacturer to develop an Android based IFEC system, and Avant is an Android-based nextgen application that combines the strengths of earlier platforms with advanced technologies, such as high-definition video, solid state drives and faster processors.
