AJA hunts for MRO partner

AJA (Al Jaber Aviation), the Abu Dhabi-based private jet charter and aircraft management company, is planning a 'Jet Centre of Excellence' in establishing an aircraft maintenance organisation (Part 145 AMO) at the UAE capital's Al Bateen Executive Airport in joint venture with an internationally established player.

We have some interest and are looking to identify the partner and get a joint venture in place by the end of the year. It will be a jet centre of excellence for VIP and executive jets and also for airliners of the same type. Ideally the partner will be someone with an established operation from the EU, US or Asia who is looking for a foothold in the GCC.”

AJA’s current fleet includes an Airbus Elite 318+, two Embraer Lineage 1000 and a Hawker 800 XP with negotiations expected to this year bring some two more Airbus Corporate Jets as well as another Lineage under management.
Dr. Pierotti says the Gulf executive jet MRO market has significant potential. “There are 300 executive jets in the GCC which are being sent overseas for maintenance currently so why wouldn’t someone want to be based here and penetrate that market? There is definitely a Gap in the Market”
